I feel like i m horribly misremembering this.
I ll be using dual displayport setup for 2 monitors eventually only have one at the moment but my question is there any issue with resolution loss if i m running a displayport connection at about 25ft roughly the length i ll need for the cable to wind down the display arm under desk along wall up shelf into pc.

Using anything beyond that increases the chances of the risks mentioned previously.
I thought i remember when i built my pc almost 2 years ago that a displayport cable could only be 6 feet long to have 4k video and anything longer would be 1440p.

The displayport 1 2 standard does set a minimum requirement that all cables up to 2 meters in length must support hbr2 speeds 21 6 gbit s and all cables of any length must support rbr speeds 6 48 gbit s.
Cables greater than 2 meters may or may not support hbr hbr2 speeds.
